Pixie Lott performed a showcase at Zirca Singapore as part of her promotional activities in Singapore for her album “Young Foolish Happy”.
She did 7 songs in the showcase of about 30 ~ 40 minutes. I sort of lost track of time. Hehe. Anyway, here are the songs she did during the showcase in sequence:
All About Tonight
Boys and Girls
Dancing On My Own
Cry Me Out
Everybody Hurts Sometimes
Bright Lights
Kiss The Stars
She sure can sing live though I can tell she is quite tired from all the press, autograph session and shopping + karaoke session with the fans. I really like “Dancing On My Own” even more after hearing it live. Kinda hope that she would do “Mama Do” but she didn’t coz afterall, she is meant to promote her second album.
Anyway, here are the photos of Pixie Lott during the showcase:
Oh and guess what? Pixie Lott’s “Young Foolish Happy” achived GOLD status in Singapore! Congratulations!
Finally, here are 2 videos of her performance during the showcase. I was on a camera that was different from my usual one for this show and I realised that the sound capture isn’t as good. I’ve edited it as best as I can so I do apologize for the bad sound quality of the videos.
The Straits Times turns 167 this year and to celebrate, they’re throwing a concert at the new and soon to open Gardens by the Bay and a party at Universal Studios Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa on 15 July 2012.
They’ve got Jason Derulo, Boys Like Girls and Kpop group 4Minute. Also performing are Singaporean jazz flautist, Rit Xu, Singapore Idols Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza, as well as ChildAid performers Amni Musfirah and Sophia Joe.
This would be Jason Derulo’s first gig in Singapore (unless he was here for some private show that I didn’t know about). I remember watching him at the Jingle Bell Ball back in 2010 and how everyone in O2 would sing “Jason Deruuulo” everytime it comes on during this song. He’s pretty cool to watch.
I must be so deep into Kpop now coz I actually kinda wanna watch 4Minute more than Jason Derulo and Boys Like Girls. Hahaha. Dang!
Anyway, tickets are priced at SGD 69 for The Straits Times readers and SGD 75 for the rest of you. No details on when the tickets are going on sale and where at this point in time.
The tickets also entitle you to a private sundown party in August at the Universal Studios Singapore in Resorts World Sentosa. You get to enjoy all the rides and get a goodie bag. Don’t think the entrance fee to Sentosa is included.
Award winning guitarist Joe Bonamassa is playing live at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 17 September 2012 in support of his latest album “Driving Towards The Sun”.
Standard tickets are priced at SGD 125, 105 and 85. The VIP Box tickets are SGD 125. There are also some Restricted View at SGD 85. All prices do not included the Sistic fee.
Priority tickets are on sale right now for Time Out subscribers until 23:59, 31 May 2012. You’ll be asked to key in a password at some point during the purchase.
EXCLUSIVE 10% discount from 18-31 May. Joe Bonamassa Live in Concert at Esplanade. Code: ‘timeoutwithjoe’ owl.li/aZxbk
Pixie Lott is as nice and sweet as everyone says she is. She was a lot taller than I expected. For some unknown reason, I’ve always thought that she was about my height.
Pixie Lott
She also signed on my copy of “Turn It Up Louder”:
Pixie Lott autograph
She obliged to photos and autographs for everyone. According to @zachwithak’s twitter update that Pixie Lott did sign autographs and take photos with fans (who are not the winners of the #StyleByPixie contest) at the Knightsbridge Topshop outlet.
So for those of you who keeps asking me about meeting and getting a photo with Pixie Lott, go down to any of Pixie Lott’s appearance and just try your luck. Good luck!
The Fray are coming to Singapore again! However, this time around, it’s a private show organized by Singtel happening on 24 June 2012. Tickets are not for sale. Boo.
If you’re a fan of Sony products and happen to be looking for a new phone with Singtel, then you’re in luck. If you buy or pre-order the Sony Xperia P with any Singtel 3G Flexi plan, you’ll receive a pair of tickets to this exclusive show.
However, if you got tickets and don’t want to go, don’t be an ass and sell it off at exorbitant prices. You got the tickets for free. Give it to another fan for free or a tiny token sum for the postage/hassle.
The Beach Boys, one of the world’s most influential and legendary bands are coming to Singapore for a gig as part of the 50th Anniversary Tour.
While they are no longer boys (they’re more like your grandfather), they’re still pulling in the crowds with their classics like “I Get Around”, “Kokomo”, “Surfin’ USA” and “Fun, Fun, Fun” which has been covered by many artists. They’ll be doing their new songs too.
Anyway, pardon my excitement, they’ll be playing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 22 August 2012.
Tickets are priced at SGD 100, 175, 220, 275, 350 excluding the SGD 3 Sistic fee. Tickets go on sale on 16 May 2012 via the usual Sistic channels.
Kelis performed last night for the first time in Singapore for the general public at Avalon Singapore.
Ticket to Kelis live in Singapore
If you guys are following me on twitter, you’d probably saw my #RAGE tweets about the gig. As you can see from the picture of the ticket above, it specifically states 7.30pm which means that the show starts at 7.30pm.
However, when we got there, it was really weird as the venue looked empty inside and we’re wondering if the tickets sold that badly that no one showed up or something. A check with the dudes at the door told us that they were still setting up and they told us to come back at about 20 minutes later.
Okay, fine, so we did. And guess what? The venue was still closed and we actually saw people coming back out of the venue and we got a little bit worried. So we went to check with the guys at the door again and this time around, they said that doors will now open at 10.30pm! WTF!
We were initially quite excited for the show but after this news, we got very pissed off and actually felt cheated (and I’m sure we weren’t the only ones). We’re not talking about a 1 hour delay, this is a 3 hours delay. It is a major epic fail in terms of event management and not to mention false advertising especially if the gig was never meant to start so early in the first place!
This is incredibly disappointing and unprofessional of a brand name like Avalon. It is making me thinking 3 times if I want to attend another of such a gig organised by Avalon. Let’s just say that if you’re thinking of watching a non-DJ artists in Avalon, you might want to just be prepared for such shitty event management and planning.
Anyway, enough of the rage and on to how awesome Kelis was live. I was in Kuala Lumpur in March 2012 to watch Kelis live at the F1 Twin Towers @live gig. This would be my second Kelis show within 2 months.
Kelis live in Singapore
The setlist was pretty similar to the one in Kuala Lumpur and a bit shorter actually. In Kuala Lumpur, it was about an hour and this Avalon one was only 50 minutes. It was a little short but given that I only paid SGD38 + 3, I’m not going to complain about the duration.
Kelis
Kelis did her set in Avalon in one continuous flow. Each song was remixed to blend and flow into the next so it really was very suitable in a club setting. It was a real shame that most of the people in the show only know “Milkshake”. I thought that “Bounce” was the most fun song last night. I also like “A Capella” a lot.
Kelis on drums
What surprised me the most was Kelis on drums! I didn’t know that she could play the drums actually. It was cool that she played the drums on top of another drummer playing the standard drums. The effects from the electronic drums just made everything even cooler.
For the regular followers of my blog, you’ll know that I cannot resist taking videos of the performances but due to a club setting, the few videos I recorded had too much bass and hence isn’t really worth the upload. Go YouTube it; I’m pretty sure that someone would upload it. Or if you really want the video, put a comment here or email me and I’ll upload them.
If you didn’t already know, I’m in love with Kpop Idol group Super Junior.
They recently released a music video for their 3rd japanese single “Opera”, a song which I totally love. There is a korean version of the song on the “Mr Simple”/”A-Cha” album as well but unfortunately, the korean version was never released as a single.
When the music video for “Opera” was released, I realised that it was the same duration and length/etc as the korean version in the album. Since I really wanted a music video for this song quite badly, I decided to have fun in iMovie and redo the audio of the japanese version of “Opera” into the korean version of the song.
Honestly, it’s my first time doing something like that in iMovie and I’m pretty satisfied and proud of the results. Hehe.
That said, here are the videos:
How do you think I did in iMovie?
Anyway, here are the links to the japanese version of those videos:
