I’m a big fan of Oasis. I went to all (2) their concerts in Singapore and stalked them both times they were here. I have almost all the Oasis albums so that’s why I actually had stalked them so much coz I have a lot of albums for them to sign. 🙂

If you need to know, Liam Gallagher is actually the less scary brother. The first time I saw both of them, I was so scared because I’ve heard so much about their spats and I was so worried that they won’t sign/stop or even worse, start scolding me or something.

Also, the both of them really hate each other so much that they wouldn’t even look at each other and would always take separate cars. The rest of Oasis usually sits in the same car with Liam.

Anyway, I’ve digressed. When I heard Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds (NGHFB) are performing at the F1 I was pretty excited. I haven’t really been following Noel’s new band much but knowing that he was the main songwriter for Oasis, I figured that NGHFB would have a pretty similar sound. Besides, I’ve only heard one or two NGHFB songs before the concert last night.

True enough, it sounded pretty similar (but not 100%) to the songs that he wrote as Oasis. While I didn’t recognise most of the songs except “Wonderwall”, “Little by Little”, “If I Had a Gun”, “The Death of You and Me” and “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, I definitely enjoyed myself and so did all those guys around me who were singing along to almost every song.

When NGHFB played “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, every single person around in the crowd knew every single word to that song. I am no exception as it is an anthem!!

Also, everyone I knew who was there to see NGHFB were impressed with the performance. Why wouldn’t they? Noel Gallagher just stood there with his band and sang without any gimmicks, props and excessive banter/guitar solos. Yet the crowd lapped it up. How many artists nowadays can achieve that?
