Note from Joyce Sim: Honestly, I was kinda sad that I wasn’t able to attend the YG Family Concert press conference because I wanted to see TOP up close but I had already planned on going to the Anberlin Final Tour. So I got my friend Raine Koh to go to the YG Family Concert press conference for me.

YG Family has swag as their middle name and their top acts like Big Bang, 2NE1, Epik High and newcomer Winner were part of the press conference for YG Family 2014 GALAXY Tour: POWER in Singapore. Unfortunately, Big Bang member Seungri was involved in a car accident just hours before they were due to fly to Singapore. While he was hospitalised, he did not suffer any major injuries but his presence was definitely missed.
Members of the press were asked to submit their questions beforehand and the host would pick the questions to ask the artists.
When Big Bang was asked which artist inspires them, TOP answered, “Winner. They inspire us because they are winners. We would also like to work with 2NE1 and Epik High.”
Hip-hop veteran, Epik High were definitely the mood-makers of the night. When asked about what to expect for their upcoming 8th album, DJ Tukutz simply replied, “It’s a secret.”
Since it’s Epik High’s first time in Singapore, frontman Tablo also commented randomly in English, “I love it. I love heat. I like the sun.” He also named YG Family’s president Yang Hyun Suk as the person Epik High would want to collaborate with. He added, “It would be a rap and dance collaboration.”
2NE1 member Dara commented that she would love to act in a movie. She boldly said that instead of a crying scene, she would rather act out a kissing scene and chose Epik High’s Mithra Jin to be her partner. This prompted Tablo to chant, “Right now!”
Presented by Samsung, the artistes were also given the latest Samsung mobile phones to play with and take selfies. Although, Winner, being the babies of YG Family were a little on the quiet side during the Q&A, the members cutely posed for pictures whenever their seniors flashed their Samsung smartphones at them. The whole YG Family took a bunch of good looking we-fies to last a lifetime.
It was a press conference with lots of laughs throughout the entire session. It was a shame that Seungri and Psy weren’t present at the session. Oh well.
