The F1 weekend was longer than usual for me this year; 4 days instead of the usual 3 (or less). Even though it’s just 1 more day due to the Thursday Pit Lane Experience, it’s really not funny how the post F1 exhaustion hits you. #signofaging And I didn’t even stalk any F1 acts/drivers this year!!

The Singapore GP organisers made a couple of changes to the Marina Bay Circuit this year and because I have been to a couple of races before but I skipped the Singapore GP last year (to try see my Super Junior boys in Seoul before they went to the army #priorities), it was obvious to me what the changes were.

For example, there is now an overhead bridge near Gate 3 to get to the Padang quicker. It might not seem like much but if you have ever attempted to rush over from Zone 1/the Suntec/Marina Square part of the tracks to the Padang to watch the headliner concert, you will know how bad the human traffic and crush is at the Esplanade underpass. It’s also a massive detour to get to the Padang if you’re entering from Gate 3 without that overhead bridge. I approve of this change.

Also, another significant change was the location of the Padang stage. It used to be located at the short side of the field but this year, it was changed to the long side of the field. It really allowed a lot more people to get closer to the stage and it really improves the concert experience being able to get a better view/closer to the stage. I also like how there are now 4 fan zone sections instead of just left and right like previously. Finally, I most like how they banned selfie sticks in the fan zone and enforced it strictly!

Even though I do find the selfie stick useful at the concert to get nicer photos/fancams/etc, that stick is a hazard in the crowd. At a concert outside Singapore, a friend was poked by selfie sticks just because she was taller than the other fangirls in the crowd and they were unhappy about being blocked by her. The incident was bad enough for me to came back and tell all my event organising friends to ban selfie sticks at their events. So yeah, ditch that stick people.

I am almost fully recovered from the F1 weekend and looking forward to the 2017 one!
