F1 Rocks is going to Malaysia this year! Finally an F1 Rocks concert close by after the inaugural F1 Rocks concert in Singapore in 2009.
That said, I’ve heard that Kelis and Kylie are in the line up!! I’m so stoked! I love Kylie!! Would start to seriously consider going up to Kuala Lumpur to watch F1 Rocks. We’ll have to see what happens as soon as the people at F1 Rocks release more information.
Watch this space!
Also, please use the hashtag #F1RocksKL if you are going to tweet anything related to the event.
[Update | 19 March 2012]
This is sad news. Apparently, F1 Rocks in KL has been cancelled “due to unforseen circumstances”.
Kylie Minogue is in town in Singapore to play at the Aphrodite Live leg of her world tour at the Singapore Indoor Stadium for one night only.
Of course I went to the show. Again (sort of).
The first thing I noticed when I stepped into the stadium was that the stage is very small. It feels like it is almost half the size of the stage in Perth! (Maybe it was 3-quarters the size.)
At least in Singapore, we had a nicer screen than the black and while one in Perth. Haha. Petty/Superficial. I know.
At 8pm, they dimmed the lights and this DJ started spinning. I’m not sure who he is but he’s pretty good. He spun the decks for 45 minutes before Kylie Minogue came on stage. I love how there was no gap between the end of his DJ set and Kylie’s performance. All concerts in Singapore should be like that!
Also, this concert, ever seat was stuff with an inflatable green tube which would light up when you hit/wave it around hard enough. It was really nice when everyone in the stadium was waving/hitting it around. This was something cooler than the Perth concert.
The opening video sequence was identical to the Aphrodite Les Folies tour but I think Singapore got 5 screens (between the columns) instead of 7 because the venue is too small.
So they did bring in all the props including my favourite Pegasus one. However, as usual, the stage here was too small and the prop couldn’t fit under the elevated stage and you could actually see the top (about a foot worth of it) jutting out from the lowered platform.
I actually saw Kylie climbing into the prop just before it lifted onto the stage. Not that it really bothers me but it was quite strange to see the props jutting from above the ground really.
It also was quite obvious that there were lesser dancers in the Aphrodite Live leg of the tour. In fact, Kylie did announce that some of the dancers were heading home (Perth was the last date of the Australian Aphrodite Les Folies tour) in Perth.
When she sang “Slow”, the Aphrodite Live part of the tour didn’t have that revolving circular raised floor. It worked but it certainly looked better and nicer on the Les Folies tour.
I actually thought that they were going to skip bringing out the angel in the performance of “Looking For An Angel”. They brought it out towards the end of the song. Kylie didn’t ride the back of the angel as well. Needless to say, there wasn’t a stage extension/runway for the angel to “fly” over. I’m glad they brought the angel out. I thought that the wings were very well made! I like it a lot. (Wish I own a pair of the wings.)
In Aphrodite Live in Singapore, Kylie sang “I Should Be So Lucky” which drove the crowd wild (one of my guilty pleasure songs hehe). She didn’t sing that in Les Folies in Perth. So this is something that Singapore got that Perth didn’t get.
This is the biggest difference between the Les Folies tour and the Live tour: the performance of “On A Night Like This/All The Lovers”.
While the costumes and acrobatics are the same, the lack of the water display really makes the performance less spectacular. If you didn’t watch anything about Les Folies, you won’t feel the difference but when you actually have seen Les Folies, the water displays were really, really very cool and quite integral to the whole feel of the concert and the Aphrodite theme. The stage looked so beautiful and cool with all the water jets and sprays synchronized to music.
I thought (and was hoping that) they maybe they would at least have the spinning acrobats dripping water off them but nope, nothing dripping except their sweat. Haha.
For me, I felt that without the water displays, it wasn’t as spectacular a finale and the routine wasn’t as sensual/sexy as it can and should be. (Imagine this: her buff as hell dancers wearing nude/skin-tone swim trunks/briefs dripping with water. How hot is that?)
Regardless, the Aphrodite Live is still an awesome concert!
Kylie Minogue Aphrodite Les Folies tour in Perth was TOTALLY AWESOME!!! What a spectacle!!! Love the stage and all the props!! It’s so amazing and the fountains and water displays were nothing short of brilliant!!
I’ll do a full concert review with photos when I get back to Singapore.
Hopefully, I can get it done before I go for Aphrodite Live this coming Wednesday. Can’t wait!!
So I flew down to Perth specially to catch the Aphrodite Les Folies leg of Kylie’s latest tour. Totally no regrets.
This guy must be Perth’s biggest Kylie fan. He was the first person in the queue at the concert venue:
So we headed to explore Fremantle for the day before the concert at night.
Kylie opened the concert with Aphrodite. She looked every bit an aphrodite alright.
I totally love this prop. It’s actually my favourite prop from the whole concert. It’s just so beautiful!
Whoever’s idea it is to do the whole concert with a greek theme is a freaking genius!!! The stage and costumes and sets are totally amazing and absolutely stunning!
I can’t really remember which song did she sing for the following costumes but whatever, I’m sharing the photos in any case.

Bonus of the night! A marriage proposal!
The proposal was totally a surprise. Kylie was chatting to the people in the splash zone when she spoke without the mic and then got the guy in the yellow shirt to come up on stage. The next thing we knew, Kylie got his bf (the guy in the black shirt) to come up on stage and then he went down on one knee and proposed. Wow. I am so happy for them even though I’m not sure where or how they are going to get married since gay marriage is not legal in Australia.
Kylie was quite emotional after the proposal and then she decided to do a song that’s not in the setlist since she couldn’t just “jump straight back into the concert” after the proposal. She asked for suggestions from the crowd and ended up doing “Locomotion”.
This is exactly why I love Kylie. She is so cute and sexy. Seriously, I’d do her. Hahaha.
Finally, the night ended with On A Night Like This and All The Lovers with the water displays starting up. It was truly stunning and beautiful. I just can’t repeat and emphasize that enough. Most awesome stage I’ve ever seen after so many concerts I’ve been to.
Now I’m wondering how the Aphrodite Live stage is going to look like…. I shouldn’t expect too much should I?
