Super Junior’s Ryeowook on Immortal Song 2 featuring Eunhyuk and Shindong

I don’t usually do this but I am truly impressed with the song and performance that I just had to blog about it (and not because I’m a huge Super Junior fan aka ELF).

On the 7 July 2012 (Episode 58) broadcast of Immortal Song 2 (불후의 명곡 이번), Super Junior’s Ryeowook (슈퍼주니어의 려욱) performed Hanchul’s “Balsam Garden Crush” (한철님의 노래 봉선화 연정). Ryeowook’s performance also featured fellow bandmates Eunhyuk (은혁), Shindong (신동) and Shindong’s crew “Shin’s Family”.

The arrangement by D2O is amazing! (Not Hitchhiker as listed in the video. There was a mess up of the producers by SM Entertainment and KBS. Idiots.) Kudos to the Onesound Team for the badass job! I’ve been totally addicted to the song for the last few days! I wish they’d release it as a single on iTunes or something. I’d buy it for sure. Also, here’s hoping that Wookie will perform this song during his solo at Super Show 5. Hehehe.

Also, respect to Shindong for coming up with the fun choreography! I was dancing along at the dance bits featuring the moves of “U” and “Oppa Oppa”.

Finally, have I mentioned how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the performance? It is phenomenal. Check it out:

Here’s what the original sounds like:

Also, there is another reason why this particular episode of Immortal Song 2 caught my attention. Immortal Song 2 is a singing contest but apparently, in this episode, they decided to get the audience to vote for “who is the least ugly” and they put Ryeowook and Eunhyuk on the stand. It’s hysterical!

This video will show you why Super Junior is ratings gold and why I love them to bits:

Some background information for you non-ELFs, Eunhyuk is normally voted amongst Super Junior themselves as the least good looking member and they constantly tease him about it. Ryeowook gets mentioned as one of the least good looking members too. Hence Shindong’s comment about how the 2 of them are constantly battling for the “ugliest member” title.

It is amazing how the producers allowed Super Junior to hijack a tv program about singing and turn it into a petty impromptu ego contest about their looks. How many other artists (regardless of genre) can actually do that?
