Earlier today, the Spiderman cast were at the Marina Bay Sands Shoppes for a red carpet and international press conference event.
Fortunately for me, a friend won a pair of passes to the event and gave me one of the passes.
So we went down to the Marina Bay Sands Shoppes early to try to secure a good spot beside the red carpet. I arrived at about 1.45 pm while my friends arrived as early as 11+ am.
I must say that this red carpet event is actually compares to those that I’ve been to in London. There were still some problems but overall, it’s pretty much a well organised event that was up to the standard like those in London and Hollywood.
If you have followed my adventures long enough, you’ll know how much I stress on everyone’s safety at such events. I specifically want to highlight 2 major issues I have with this red carpet event.
- The barricade wasn’t sturdy enough. I was in the first row of people at the barricade and I swear to God that the barricade nearly fell over a few times from all weight of the people who were pushing from the back to get closer/a better view. The people on the red carpet were nice enough to not yell at us coz those of us at the front were really trying to push back the weight of the crowd. I definitely lost my balance once or twice but fortunately, some of the security guys helped support barricade from falling over to ensure no one gets hurt.
According to the email that my friend received as a contest winner,It was specifically mentioned to my friend that there was a 18 years old and above age limit to enter the area to the event when my friend received a phone call notifying him of winning the pair of passes. However, I’m not sure why this age limit thing wasn’t enforced because there were kids below the age of 10 within the crowd. I’m also not sure how or why but people let the kid squeeze to the front to stand at the first row by the barricade. Bad idea. Even if the barricades were sturdy enough, it is a really suffocating experience to be squashed as an adult let alone a child. Events like these are not for kids or for the faint hearted.
Other than the above 2 points, the event was excellent from the fans’ perspective because the cast of the show were lead back and forth between the media for interviews and to the fans to sign some autographs.
Anyway, long story short, all of us managed to get (a rushed version of) an autograph from Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx and the director of Spiderman, Marc Webb.
And here is how their autographs look like:

Yes I got 2 autographs from Emma Stone. LOL. She signed 2 for me amidst the chaos and confusion. 😀

Finally, here are the photos that came out well from the red carpet event earlier. Enjoy!
