Adele is certainly making a lot of waves stateside and winning even more fans over when she sang “Someone Like You” at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards.
Her voice is strong and emotional as usual. I swear that I had goosebumps as she sang her heart out. If she continued her performance with “Rolling In The Deep” I would probably have started crying at the blogger’s gathering at the MTV Asia’s office. That would have been another highlight of the 2011 VMAs. Hahaha.
However, I do have a gripe. Not with Adele but it’s mostly with MTV I guess. Tell me, HOW THE HELL IS SITTING IN A CHAIR AND SINGING THE ENTIRE SONG FOR “ROLLING IN THE DEEP” A “VIDEO OF THE YEAR”-WORTHY NOMINEE?!?! It could be “Song of the Year” but “Video of the Year”? Seriously!
Adele’s performance at the VMAs was just her standing in front of a microphone stand with a piano and pianist behind her. I thought it was hilarious when I saw a few tweets on the #VMA hashtag like “BREAKING NEWS: Adele is not sitting in a chair”. Hahaha.
