I know there are a lot of guides out there on how to get to to the SM Town building coz I actually did search for the instructions on how to get there. I must say that everyone failed to mention that the “short” walk from Exit 1 or 2 from the Apgujeong subway station [압구정역] is not “short” by Singaporean standards. Even if you go via the Cheongdam subway station, it is not any nearer.
Bloody hell. It was raining when I made my trip to Kpop Mecca and it took me about 40 minutes to walk there from Apgujeong station. It is not that short (by Singaporean standards). As I said again, walking for 30 ~ 40 minutes or so in the winter and rain is not great at all.
So, fellow Singaporeans (and wherever else in the world you are and reading this), please take note that there is actually a newer and easier way to get there.
There is a NEW subway station about 5 minutes walk or less (Singaporean definition) away from the SM Town building. It is the Apgujeong Rodeo station [압구정로데오 (K212)] on the new Bundang (yellow) line. PS: at the time of writing this, the station/line is so new that it is not showing up on google maps or some of those printed tourist maps. You can find the station on their subway map though.
I didn’t notice the exit number when I walked past it (coz I was too busy feeling cheated) but if you just look for the exit to “The Galleria Luxury Hall” or “Apgujeong-ro” you’re on the right track. Also, from the Apgujeong Rodeo station, SM Town Building is the uphill direction. [13 February 2013 | Update] Use EXIT 2. Walk straight ahead and you’ll see the SM Town Building.
The SM Town Building is just right beside the KIA Motors building. Besides, you all know how the building looks like anyway so I don’t need to describe it for you. 🙂
Let me know if anyone wants to know more information about this. I’ll add on and share what I know.
Note: From the stalking perspective, it is quite a waste of time to wait at the SM Town Building because there are always fans outside the SM Town Building. If you do see any artists walking and or out, that’s all you can do. See them. It is not likely that you will be able to get a photo or autograph from them. Unless you are really lucky and they are a rookie and they actually walk out somewhere.
[26 March 2013 | Update]
I just passed by the building yesterday and I’m afraid to say that the building is now boarded up. You cannot see the building anymore. I’m not sure if they are just renovating the building or they’re rebuilding it. They didn’t say when the building will be ready again… the board just said “coming soon”.
The board has a really huge image of SHINee’s Dream Girl and Super Junior M’s Break Down album cover. That’s about all you can see. I didn’t take a picture of the building because I was on a bus.
Spread the word to all that you know who are planning to visit the building and tell them it’s not worth a visit unless you want to see the board/construction.
the apgujeong-rodeo station is already in the naver maps. 😀
thanks for this. 🙂 I’ve finally looked and now know it’s exit 2.
great to know! thanks a lot!
