James Morrison Live in Singapore 2012 Post Mortem

Last night was James Morrison’s first full gig in Singapore. Couldn’t be happier. πŸ™‚ After all, it’s what I wanted since MTV Sessions earlier this year.

Furthermore, I had even suggested using the Esplanade as a concert venue for their fantastic acoustics and that tixs for James Morrison should hover around $150 max. Haha. So when the tickets went on sale, I was pretty stoked to see that the details of this concert went my way and I’m really glad the place was almost full… which meant that I was pretty spot on in my estimates. Hehe. #cheapthrill.

Anyway, here is the set list for last night:

  • Beautiful Life
  • This Boy
  • In My Dreams
  • Say Something Now
  • I Won’t Let You Go
  • Up
  • Broken Strings
  • All Around The World
  • Slave to the Music
  • Nothing Ever Hurts Like You
  • I’m a Man
  • Person I Should Have Been
  • Previous Love
  • You Give Me Something
  • Encore: The Awakening
  • Encore: Wonderful World

At 9.05 pm sharp, the lights went out and the party began. The audience were a little apprehensive about cheering coz after all, it is the Esplanade and it’s usually reserved for concert of the refined nature. Also, most people didn’t realise that James Morrison is a very energetic dude despite his soulful, bluesy type music.

Just like the MTV Sessions recording, I got a bit teary when he sang “I Won’t Let You Go”. Hearing James Morrison sing this song live never fails to get me. If this was an earlier tour and/or if he did “If You Don’t Wanna Love Me”/”The Pieces Don’t Fit Here Anymore”, I would have cried for sure. Lol.

After “Broken Strings”, James Morrison got everyone to stand up and people loosened up and cheered louder (and more). It was also quite interested to note that during that tiny sing-along session during “Broken Strings” only girls were singing.

When the concert ended at about 10.35 pm. I was quite sad. James Morrison still had so many more hits which he didn’t sing! Then again, this is a tour in support of his third album, “The Awakening”. Aaahhhh. He should come back again on his next tour or some other event or something.

Here are the photos I got:
