Making this blog post due to some special requests from fellow ELFs (Super Junior fans). Coz I do love you guys like that. 🙂
All Kpopers know that Apgujeong is the Mecca of Kpop simply because the SM Town building is there. The Cube Entertainment and JYP Buildings are relatively nearby as well (we’re talking about 30 ~ 40 mins walk from the SM Town Building).
Everyone takes the token picture from/while standing in front of the SM Town building. I did a blog post of how to get to the SM Town building last year because I found that there was a new train station which makes getting to the SM Town building even more convenient.
And as I’ve mentioned, I got asked how to get to various other Kpop landmarks (per se) in Seoul. So I went to dig out the photos from my trip last year to make a “how-to” post on how to find the Everysing shop in Myeongdong.
Despite reading other blogs with guides/instructions on how to find the Everysing shop, it is not as easy to find the place as everyone says it is if you are going there for the first time. I’m serious.
The worst instructions anyone can give you to look for any shop in Myeongdong is “lookout for a <name of shop>”. THERE ARE MANY OUTLETS OF THE SAME BRAND IN MYEONGDONG. Those are really deceptive instructions. Seriously, in any one street in Myeongdong, there could easily be 3 or 4 Faceshop outlets, let’s not even talk about how many Faceshops there are in the Myeongdong area.
I am going to tell you right now that the easiest way to find the Everysing shop is to use GOOGLE or NAVER (more updated but Korean only) maps when you are in Myeongdong (there is free wifi there). Just put this into the search: “서울특별시 중구 명동8나길 15” and follow the map (or just search in advance and print out the map yourself). I can’t screenshot naver or google maps for copyright reasons. So do the legwork yourself ok? 🙂
** Additional note: on Google maps, the building where Everysing is located in says “Ashley”.
Or if you prefer words, get out of Exit 6 from Myeongdong station. You can see a huge Uniqlo (white building) from the exit. Turn left into the pedestrian mall. Here is where it starts to get tricky. Walk down the street and at the first MAJOR cross junction, turn left and walk all the way down.
As you walk, LOOK UP. Everysing is on the 4th floor where the SPAO Building (outlet) is and the Everysing sign is quite tiny. Here’s a picture of the view from the Everysing shop so you can see some signage around the place:
When you do find the shop, be prepared to get broke. LOL. Coz I’m a huge Super Junior fan, I was struggling so hard to not buy everything SJ related in the shop. Check out some of the stuff they have (you can’t really take pics of the stuff in the shop but hey, I am sneaky. As always):
All I will say is, prepare to go mad in the shop. A lot of the Super Junior stuff is usually gone (thank god!! so I didn’t spend that much) but there there are lots of TVXQ, SNSD, F(x) and a bit of some stuff from other artists there too. I remember that stuff includes, L-files, small square pillow (for the sofa), CDs, posters, photos, autographed (printed) A4 posters, notebooks and mobile phone charms etc.
There is also a photobooth where you can take “pictures” with your favourite SM Artist. It is 7,000 won a go (have the exact amount in notes). I obviously took the Super Junior option but the pictures of the SJ boys in the machine are so old!! It looks like it was from a year or two after their debut (the Twins/Happiness era). Still, it is quite a cheap thrill to do it. Hahahaha. Let the crazy fangirl/fanboy out when you take the photos.
When I was there last year, the karaoke booths were under repair so I didn’t get to check it out. It would have been funny to sing a couple of songs in there. Like I said, it is a cheap thrill. 🙂
Anyway, I hope this helps and have fun!
