Rainie Yang was in Singapore over the weekend to do a showcase at Shanghai Dolly on Saturday, 21 March 2015 and an autograph session at Compass Point on Sunday, 22 March 2015 in support of her new album 雙丞戲 (A Tale of Two Rainie).

I obviously am not really into Chinese music but since a friend had an extra pass to the showcase, so I was like why not? I am not one to pass up on free tickets to a live performance even though I don’t really know who the artist is.

I must confess that one point, I kinda regretted going to the showcase because my ankle was hurting from standing through the one hour showcase. Despite it being mostly recovered from a constant sprain, it really wasn’t such a good idea after all.

Anyway, don’t get me wrong, it was still a pretty good showcase overall, just that I didn’t really enjoy the whole thing as much because of my ankle and how some people at the back in the VIP section kept talking so loudly!

It was really annoying to be honest, because it’s a special showcase and to talk through the entire performance was just plain rude and disrespectful to the artist and not to mention disturbing the enjoyment of the surrounding audience. It wasn’t a regular pub night people; have some respect and listen.

Rainie Yang was really witty and hilarious though I was quite surprised and thought she was a bit too honest at one point. Like how she said that she will decide whether she will sing a song or not based on how she feels later. I know that it might be a joke but from the way she delivered it, it didn’t really sound like a joke to me. It might be her stage banter style but for someone who is watching her live for the first time, it gives that impression that she is being a diva and a bit unprofessional as well.

However, that said, Rainie Yang kept complaining about how she didn’t sound very good but I thought that she sounded great.

Even though she was having some problems with her earpiece, she did a really good job of pulling the show off despite not being able to hear the minus one properly. If she didn’t say anything about the earpiece problems and how she couldn’t really hear anything, I wouldn’t have suspected anything.

Rainie Yang is a pro obviously but yeah, the stage banter and delivery for the night was just way too casual. Feels like there’s something off. I wonder what it is/why…

Here are the rest of the photos from the showcase. Enjoy!
