I was in Taiwan recently for a holiday and while I was there, I found out that there was a red carpet event at Ximending for the Korean movie “Be With You”. I then realised that Korean actor So Ji Sub and the director was due to make an appearance at the red carpet event! Wa-hey!!
When I passed by the red carpet venue just past noon (TPE) or so to check the place out, there were already fans who have started their stake out to catch a glimpse of So Ji Sub later that evening (~6.30 pm TPE).
I didn’t want to stake out at the red carpet as I was down with the cold in Taipei at that point in time. Furthermore, I had 2 Super Show 7 Taipei concerts to attend later that week so the last thing I wanted to do was to get more sick. I wasn’t that crazy over So Ji Sub anyway, so I decided to go back to the room to rest, catch up on Super TV and come back later.
When I came back to the venue at around 7.00 pm (TPE) or so and see this insane crowd. Couldn’t see shit among all the selfie sticks.
I must say that despite the crowd, there were 2 types of fans in the audience. The first was the casual fan (aka people like me) who quite literally came, squeezed in, had a look, snapped a couple of photos and squeezed back out. The other kind were the crazy ones who are armed with their selfie sticks, DSLR and/or their chairs. At least no one brought a ladder (oh yeah, fans in Seoul bring ladders now. Chairs/footstools are so 2016.)
I had my trusty Canon Powershot with me so I managed to at least get a couple of photos of So Ji Sub and the director, Lee Jang Hoon while I was there.
I squeezed out of the crowd and waited at the back for my friends (who are bigger fans of him than me) to come out of the crowd. Not bad, what a cheap thrill while on holidays. LOL. Who would have thought? Hehehe.
