So I spotted in the papers that the exhibition about Pompeii will be opened to the public for free this weekend (22 and 23 January 2011) as part of the museum open house. I decided to go check it out. I’m quite a sucker for anything italian. I was probably italian in one of my past lives.
Anyway, when I arrived at the place, I was pretty surprised to find out that the museum is free entry from 6 – 8 pm daily. Truth is, I haven’t been to the museum since those field trips in my primary school days. I’m not particularly big on museums to be honest but I’m very drawn to the italian ones though. Don’t know why.
The exhibition is pretty interesting and presented really well too. The casts of the victims were pretty surreal too.
I just couldn’t imagine the horror those people must have felt. It makes me want to go back to Italia to visit Pompeii, Naples, Sicily and Roma (again)!
Anyway, there were other artifacts salvaged from the ruins of Pompeii. They depicted the lives of the people before their town got wiped out. There was one really interesting artifact that I saw:
I wonder what is it and what is it for?
