Winner List for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards + Post Mortem

The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards was a pretty tame affair this year. No one said or did anything stupid on stage. Boo. Lol. Kevin Hart’s monologue after Rihanna’s opening performance was hilarious like hell but still tame by preview MTV VMA standards.

PERFORMANCES FOR THE NIGHT

  • Rihanna opened the show with a performance of “Cockiness (Love It)” featuring A$AP Rocky and “We Found Love” featuring Calvin Harris.
  • Pink took to the stage to perform her latest single “Blow Me (One Last Kiss)” with a “Get This Party Started” introduction and a flying trapeze stunt.
  • Frank Ocean did an intimate performance of “Thinking of You” off his debut album.
  • One Direction blew the roof off with their performance of “One Thing”. Katy Perry was spotted to be singing along as well.
  • 2 Chainz performed “Yuck” for the first time ever at the VMA with Lil Wayne. It was followed by a performance of Lil Wayne’s new single “No Worries”.
  • Green Day did their new song “Let Yourself Go” which sound great but has the shittiest lyrics ever.
  • Alicia Keys debut her new single “Girl on Fire” which featured a surprise appearance by Nicki Minaj and was accompanied by U.S. Olympian Gabby Douglas, who performed her gold medal-winning moves on stage.
  • Taylor Swift closed the show with a performance of her new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”. Just past the half way mark of the song or so, the live broadcast hit technical glitches only to get back on air in time to hear Taylor Swift sing the last sentence and dive into the crowd.

The highlight of the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards for me is really the premiere of the “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2” trailer apart from the appearance of Psy and One Direction’s performance.

I have been on #TeamCullen from day 1 so needless to say, I was super excited to watch the trailer. You can watch the trailer here:
