Here’s a sad fact about me, I actually like some of those cheesy 80s disco music (don’t you remember Zouk’s Mambo Wednesday?). LOL. In fact I actually enjoyed Rick Astley so much at the F1 race last year that I watched him twice. Yeah yeah, judge me. 🙂
Needless to say, when I found out that Bananarama was performing at the F1 this year, I was pretty excited. Haha. I was just waiting to hear “Love in the First Degree” and “Venus” really. They were the only Bananarama songs I know…. or so I thought.
I turns out that I actually know “I Want You Back”, “I Heard a Rumour”, “Cruel Summer” and “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” on top of those songs I mentioned above… except that I didn’t really know that they were Bananarama songs. So I didn’t track their set list because I’m not that familiar with their discography.
Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin are now aged 51 and 50 respectively. Bloody hell! They still look AMAZING at 50!! They still sound pretty good too.
It was quite a shame that most of the crowd (yes you people at the front waiting for Maroon 5) are too young to know much about Bananarama. Sure most if not all of us in the crowd has never heard of their newer songs but “Venus” and “Love in the First Degree” are CLASSICS!
Also, as I expected, I saw some people in the crowd doing the dance moves from Mambo Wednesdays. Hahaha. I’m not judging you people. 🙂 [and no I wasn’t a regular enough at Zouk’s Mambo Wednesday to know the moves.]
Still it was much fun to watch Bananarama… it was such guilty pleasure. Hehe.
