How much I have heard about this legendary band and the antics of Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. I must admit that Aerosmith is a little before my time but hey, I know my music and I know that regardless of what anyone says, you gotta give Aerosmith the due respect and kudos for having a career that spans more than 40 years with various levels of commercial successful throughout.
When I heard that Aerosmith was coming to town for the Social Star Awards and the Singapore Social Concerts, I was so excited that I would get a chance to watch the legendary band in action!
I do realise that the members of the band are in their 60s and no doubt that they could possibly be past their prime but whatever it is, Aerosmith have still be touring and it shouldn’t be that bad right?
I arrived at the venue at about 8.10 pm to see that they were still moving stuff on and off the stage. Fortunately, I didn’t have to wait too long and at 8.20 pm, the opening band Euphoria Audio from the UK took the stage.

They ended their set at 9 pm and there was this 40 minutes wait before Aerosmith finally took the stage.

Aerosmith definitely still have it (not that I have a pervious experience to compare with). Seriously. At 65, Steven Tyler is still one helluva rocker and screamer. Vocally, he is really awesome and a lot better than quite a few of the other rock/screamo people I’ve watched live.
Steven Tyler is just so entertaining and memserising to watch while he gets up to his antics and dances on stage. I can totally see why Aerosmith are Hall of Fame rockers and labelled as probably one of the greatest American rock & roll band ever. They are really so damn good even in their 60s!!! I can’t really imagine how much more awesome they would have been at the peak of their energy/dexterity.
Joe Perry was also damn bloody awesome on the guitar while Brad Whitford was contented to be keeping a low profile standing there playing the guitar. Joey Kramer of course was on drums and there wasn’t a lot he could do right?
It was also so damn cool when Steven Tyler asked the crowd, “Do you guys like the old shit or new shit?” the entire audience unanimously shouted, “OLD SHIT!” 🙂 Then Steven Tyler was like, “I love you guys even more now.”
While I’ve watched Hikakin beat box his way through the entire “Walk This Way” performance during the Social Star Awards, I was still totally blown away by the performance again. Just can’t get enough. What surprised me even more was how Aerosmith got Marquese Scott to come up and dance as well! If you don’t know Marquese Scott, you need to YouTube “dubstep dance guy”. Dude is so fluid dancing it’s unbelievable.
Like I’ve mentioned earlier, Aerosmith is a little before my time but nonetheless, I am totally blown away by their awesome performance and was totally having so much fun rocking out even though I only knew like one-third of the songs in their set list that night.
When it all ended at 11.30 pm, all I could think about is how I would so love to watch them live all over again. And I do hope that I get the chance to soon!! So damn bloody awesome and fun!!
