I finally get to watch Ceelo Green perform live after being “cheated” at the 2010 edition of Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball. Ceelo Green was supposed to be in the line up but due to weather, he was stuck in Amsterdam so I didn’t get to see him. 🙁
Fast forward 2 years later, I got to watch The Lady Killa, Mr Ceelo Green, live not once but twice! First time being at the Social Star Awards of course! What a treat! 🙂
Here’s the set list for Ceelo Green at the Singapore Social Concert first:
- Bright Lights Bigger City
- Let’s Dance (cover of David Bowie)
- Don’tcha (cover of Pussycat Dolls. Oh yes he did.)
- Gone Daddy Gone (Gnarls Barkley)
- Smiley Faces (Gnarls Barkley)
- Crazy (Gnarls Barkley)
- Fuck You (karaoke version)
Ceelo Green is a very funny guy. Hahaha. The things he says are hilarious!
Like after “Gone Daddy Gone” he took a break. He was standing around on stage drinking water while I think there was some technical issues to be sorted. After like a minute or two with no musical actions, Ceelo Green was like, “I need a break… I’m 319 pounds so what the fuck do you expect?”
He has no qualms about mentioning how he is fat. At one point, he took off this white translucent jacket thing and while people were cheering (like people always do at concerts when any piece of clothing is removed), Ceelo Green then lifted his white T-shirt to reveal his bulging tummy. Hahahaha. It was quite a sight…
Also, the first time he said “fuck” on stage, he was like, “Oh I was just told that I’m not allowed to say ‘fuck’… please do not lock me up. I’m a good guy.”
Ceelo Green sounded great live but I must say that he tends to mumble through the words/not pronounce the words properly so if you don’t know the words to the song, you can’t really tell what he is singing.
My favourite moment of the concert was obviously the mass singalong to “Fuck You (Karaoke version)” as I like to call it. 🙂 It is the version where Ceelo Green goes, “I see you driving round town with the girl I love and I’m like…” and then he puts the microphone to the audience. Needless to say, everyone in the audience would happily reciprocate and go, “FUCK YOU!!!” And if it wasn’t obvious through the live stream on YouTube, the entire audience raised their middle finger in unison as they sang along as well. Hahaha.
It certainly was an amazing and fun night out at the Singapore Social Concerts. I am definitely looking forward to the one next year now!
As usual, here are the concert snaps of Ceelo Green:
