I was invited to attend the 3rd edition of sold-out Durian Mobilisation event last night at the communal hall at Marine Drive.
Generally, I don’t take on many events that are not concerts or music entertainment related stuff but it’s impossible to say “no” to durians. Let alone a seven variety course of durians curated by Dr. Leslie Tay of ieatishootipost.sg and co-organised by the Singapore Kindness Movement.
This year’s edition of Durian Mobilisations evolved from Dr. Tay’s Durian Degustation event into an event that allows one to taste and learn more about the different types of durians while recreating a kampung like setting where participants can eat durians and make some new friends along the way.

This year’s edition also had a charity element to it; the proceeds of the tickets goes to “We Care @ Marine Parade”, a community enabling network that supports the needy families in the estate. Furthermore, participants are encouraged to donate household necessities to meet the needs of the We Care beneficiaries.

Some 50 We Care beneficiaries were also present and joined participants in the feast, which included D1, D88, Red Prawn, Green Bamboo, Golden Phoenix, Kampong Durian and Mao Shan Wang.
While my mat didn’t get to try the D88, there was more than enough durians to go around to eat to our fill and a beyond. My favourite one is actually Green Bamboo. I am so going to get that variety the next time I go for a durian meal. Hehe.
Thank you for inviting me to the event once again!
