I must say that the crowd this year at the MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 is way better than the crowd 2 years ago.

The cool people at MTV Asia loaded me up with VIP tickets and a pass to the media room to charge up all the devices required to post photos and videos at the concert.
Also, I usually don’t stay in the VIP area for long. After a drink or two to load up on all the sugar to take me through the night, I’ll head out into the main concert section to squeeze with almost 20,000 others concert-goers for a better view and atmosphere.

I must also say a big THANK YOU to almost everyone for not smoking at the 2015 edition of the MTV World Stage Malaysia. Big props to MTV Asia folks and all the ground staff for making this happen. I did spot one or two people smoking a cigarette at the back but at least it wasn’t while standing in the middle of the crowd and affecting the enjoyment of the other non-smokers nearby.
There were a bunch or two who were smoking the scented e-cigarette things (is that what it was called?)… it was pretty annoying but at least it was a lesser evil. Still, please be considerate of the non-smoking people in the huge crowd. It was hot and packed as hell and we need all the oxygen that we can get in the haze.

Malaysia’s #MostWanted local act, Stacy took to the stage around 7.40 pm and kicked things off with “Not For Sale” featuring rapper Altimet.
I must say that I only know Yuna and Siti Nurhaliza who are more ballad/folk based so when Stacy started her performance, I was pretty surprised her high energy performance. I’m impressed!

SEKAI NO OWARI came on stage next and they are the first Japanese band to ever take stage at World Stage Malaysia! This is also SEKAI NO OWARI’s first performance in South East Asia.
SEKAI NO OWARI setlist:
- Anti-Hero
- Mr Heartache
- Death Disco
- SOS
- Dragon Night
I’ve mentioned before that nowadays, I do not research bands before I watch them live for the first time. I do not want to watch them for the first time with any expectations and now prefer to let them blow me away (or not).
After SEKAI NO OWARI’s set, I’m in love!! I’m so going to YouTube their discography! Anti-Hero is such an earworm, the hook of the song just sticks in your head after one listen!

Majority of the crowd went wild when Apink took to the stage. I think this is the first time I’ve ever been at a concert where the fanboys screamed louder and harder than the fangirls. (Even the 2NE1 concert that I went to wasn’t like that.) LOL!!!
Apink’s setlist is as follows:
- No No No
- Mr Chu
- LUV
- Remember
To be honest, I couldn’t really see much of Apink’s performance because I was blocked a lot by the taller males in the audience who were clamouring to get a glimpse of the Apink girls. I didn’t fight them. LOL. I gave up and just mostly listened and got a glimpse of the screen whenever I can.

This is my second time watching Carly Rae Jepsen live and I can see her growth as an artist.
Here is Carly Rae Jepsen’s setlist for the night:
- Runaway With Me
- Emotion
- Tonight I’m Getting Over You
- Boy Problems
- Your Type
- Let’s Get Lost
- All That
- Call Me Maybe
- I Really Like You
While “Call Me Maybe” and “I Really Like You” was a highly anticipated crowd favourite and sing-along song, “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” has most definitely got the crowd going the craziest!
Check it out!
I really, really, really, really, really, really like this crowd so much!

Finally! Jason Derulo!! HE TOTALLY SMASHED IT!!
I don’t know what took him so long to get on stage but all is forgiven once the music started at around 10.30 pm. Jason Derulo is even more amazing live now than when I last saw him live back in 2010!!
Here’s Jason Derulo’s setlist for the night:
- In My Head
- Wiggle
- Trumpets
- The Other Side
- Marry Me
- Whatcha Say
- Ridin’ Solo
- It Girl
- Cheyenne
- Breathing
- Don’t Wanna Go Home
- Talk Dirty
- Want To Want Me
- Pull Up
It was just hit after hit after hit! Combined with Jason Derulo’s sick and slick dance moves, I haven’t watched a pop concert performance of such a performance calibre in ages!
By the time Jason Derulo was about done with his set, it was almost 11.30 pm. It was quite a shame because I saw people leaving very reluctantly during his set as it was getting late. Their faces when they squeezed out from the crowd and heard Jason Derulo launch into another hit.
My feet was in agony by then as well but I soldiered on. The concert high was worth the pain. LOL. Plus, I flew up because I wanted to watch Jason Derulo again, so there was no way I would ditch his set no matter how late it got.
To all of you in the audience who stayed till the very end, kudos and give yourself a pat on the back. Good job and well done!
