I have been missing for the last week or so as I did a very YOLO trip over to LA/Las Vegas. A friend called up a week before our departure date and asked if I wanted to go. I actually only purchased the flight ticket like a week before actually flying off.
I’ve been wanting to go to the LA/Vegas side for ages but it has never worked out for one reason or another over the years. I was looking at going next year proper since Siwon darling is enlisting soon and I don’t have a Super Junior distraction for the next 2 years. However, the phone call happened and even though it was very last minute, things fell into place so off I went!
I didn’t do a lot of research beforehand and in fact, I didn’t even know that Britney was performing that very night in Planet Hollywood when I booked my flight. I only realised it when my friend told me that he was going to watch Celine Dion concert and I could watch the Britney one if I wasn’t interested in Celine Dion a couple of days before I flew off. Even then, I was contemplating if I should watch Britney or Celine Dion over at Caesar’s Palace.
In the end, I ended up with Britney because it’s Britney, bitch! Plus, I am more familiar with Britney’s repertoire than Celine’s. So there you go, the story of how and why I was suddenly in the USA and at the Britney concert. ^^
Here’s a tip: they have last minute discounted tickets for sale on The Strip itself so if you are not overly particular about where you are seated (for whatever show you are interested in), go for those last minute discounted tickets like I did. If the show you wanted isn’t available, then buy at the box office at the original price.
The last minute tickets place, can’t remember what is the name of the thing exactly now, were selling tickets to Britney’s show at USD 63.83. They’ll give you a voucher and you are supposed to exchange it for a ticket at the box office. I was really lucky because I managed to get a seat in the second row behind the standing pits and VIP seats! Check out my view of the stage without using the zoom on my iPhone:

I must say that in the 1.5 hours show, it really doesn’t matter if Britney was singing live or not. Once the show starts, it’s just hit after hit and so much fun! I’d do it all over again if I could!
However, I must point out that lip-syncing is much harder than it looks, and since there’s a live band on stage, I’d guess that Britney was pretty much singing live most of the times over a pre-recorded live vocal track at some points. Her dance choreography wasn’t very complicated (compared to those Kpop routines) so singing live and dancing is entirely possible.
The stage looks amazing as well! All the special effects like the rain curtain, fire rings and other water features are so damn cool!! I guess that’s the beauty of a proper theatre stage that houses the props for a residency shows; the props built doesn’t need to be dismantled for transportation and re-setup in another venue of different dimensions.
After finally watching Britney perform live, I can understand why Britney is at the top of the game even though she is not the strongest and best of them singers. She is a bonafide entertainer! Totally amazing and brilliant!
