MTV’s critically acclaimed series “Catfish: The TV Show” returns for its fifth season and will premiere on MTV in Asia on 20 March 2016, Sundays at 7.00 pm (TH/WIB), 8.00 pm (SG), 9.00 pm (MY) and 22 March 2016, Tuesdays at 11.30 am (PH).
In case you do not know what a “Catfish” is, from UrbanDictionary.com:
A catfish is someone who pretends to be someone they’re not using Facebook or other social media to create false identities, particularly to pursue deceptive online romances.
We’re not talking about the marine life here.
Catfishing is more prevalent than most people realise and it’s not just teenagers who fall prey to catfishing. So you kiddos especially, don’t write your parents off totally when they dissuade you from pursuing an online friendship, especially one that would potentially turn romantic.
Be really careful and always try to let your parents/friends/someone know where you are; especially when you are dealing with anyone that you have met online.
“Catfish: The TV Show” tackles the mystery and complexities of dating in a digital world. The hour-long series follows Nev Schulman, whose own online love drama was the subject of the “Catfish” film, and director-filmmaker Max Joseph as they take viewers on a deeply personal journey that goes inside the stories of young people as their online-only romantic relationships collide with first-time, real-life encounters.
