The last time I went to Incheon, I only went to Chinatown. I wanted to go to Songdo Central Park the last time but it’s a good 1.5 hours or so journey from Chinatown so I dropped the idea.
So on this recent trip to Seoul, I made time specifically to go to Songdo Central Park in Incheon. And it was really worth the day trip.

Songdo Central Park in Incheon reminds me of Central Park in New York in terms of the concept. There are definitely less skyscrapers in Incheon, so it doesn’t feel as claustrophobic there. You can get to Songdo Central Park via the Incheon Line 1 Subway. Take Exit 3.

It is nice to be in wide open spaces of nature every now and then. I’ve always liked nature but I’m terrified of insects so that’s the only thing stopping me from ever wanting to live in a forest.

As we took a stroll in Songdo Central Park, we realised that there is this deer enclosure within the park near the traditional hanok village! It seems a bit random to have deers within a park but whatever right, there are deers!
Me being me, I found some hay on the ground and I started to convince the deers to come closer so I could pet them. The male deers were a lot easier to convince than the does to come over. LOL. Anyway, I managed to pet a few deers and scratch the back of their ears which they clearly enjoy. It was a cheap thrill and you know what? It’s usually such cheap thrills that are the best ones.

At the other end of Songdo Central Park, there is this place (photo above). You can rent peddle boats, canoes and whatnot other water based leisure crafts. It was a weekday when I went so there really wasn’t anyone doing anything on the water.

What amused me about the place was how they had a setup for fans of the drama “Goblin” to take photos. The Ambassador Hotel at Songdo Central Park was one of the locations for the filming of Goblin and there are photos there to remind which scene it was.

And don’t worry, they have props which you can borrow for free to reenact the scenes of Goblin too. LOL.
So if you are looking for a day trip out of Seoul for a breather, consider to head on over to Songdo Central Park in Incheon. It’s a lot nearer than to travel to Nami Island and it’s free too.
