I was lucky enough to get a tickets to the 23:59 (The Movie) Gala Premiere at Vivo City yesterday.
Not being a major movie buff, I honestly had no idea what I was in for. I didn’t even know what the plot was about.
I arrived at Vivocity in time to see Mark Lee and Gilbert Chan (director) on stage doing some promotional work for their movie. It was only then that I realised that it was a horror movie. I was thinking, “Shit. What did I get myself into?”
While I generally am not the kind who gets freaked out and screams in the middle of a horror movie, I got a bit worried. What if I can’t sleep after the movie that night?
To add on to the atmosphere, they got this girl to dress up as one of the spooks to mingle and loiter around in the reception area and the cinema. If I didn’t see her from afar and if she just showed up beside me quietly, I would have got a huge shock for sure. The make up was really good!
As with all the other movie premieres, the main cast and director came in and said a few words before the movie started. They were all pretty good looking guys I’d say. Haha. I unfortunately could not work out who is who yet apart from Mark Lee of course. (I mean the rest of the guys are newcomers and they all had crew cuts in the movie. So now that they have hair, I can’t really tell who is who!) If you know who is who, let me know?
After the movie, I was at the right place at the right time and I managed to get a group photo with the cast, director and producer of the movie.
I must say that they did a really good job in the movie. Without giving too much away/do spoilers, the second dude from the left did a very good and convincing scene when he got “possessed”. That scene stood out for me in terms of acting and seriously freaked me out big time. Well done!
The rest of the cast for a first movie did a good job too. I’m so sorry that I do not remember your names from the introductions (and do not have the time now to google you guys out) but I will try to find out from google when I can. They’re definitely budding talents that you need to keep an eye on.
The movie 23:59 opens in cinemas island wide (Singapore) on 3 November 2011. For more information about 23:59 the movie, you can check them out at their official facebook page.
And finally, for the record, I did have some trouble sleeping last night… My thoughts and review of the movie in the next entry.
[Update | 3 November 2011]
I finally found out who is who in the movie and I hope I labelled the picture correctly… Please tell me if I got someone wrong! Thanks!
