The Wanted Showcase @ Movida Singapore

So I went to The Wanted’s showcase @ Movida (Singapore) yesterday.

I was quite shocked to see the queue there really. There hasn’t been a showcase that has been able to garner this kind of crowd since the boyband era of the late 90s and early 2000s.

Anyway, I have watched The Wanted performed in London during the Jingle Bell Ball 2010. To be honest, their inexperience was so apparently over the sound system in the O2 Arena. They couldn’t own the stage. It also didn’t help that their performance was sandwiched between The Script and The Black Eyed Peas. It’s brutal but it’s quite clear to me that The Wanted was just a filler act while they sorted the stage between those 2 acts.

I know it's crap but I was pretty far behind.

In a smaller venue like Movida, The Wanted faired so much better. Then again, who cares right? All the screaming boys and girls overwhelmed all the sound coming out of the speakers.

The Wanted actually did about 6 songs including an acoustic cover of Cheryl Cole’s “Fight For This Love” and the Goo Goo Doll’s “Iris”. It was quite clear that the crowd didn’t care about those covers. Haha. No one was singing along to them. Everyone was singing word for word for The Wanted’s songs off their debut album though.

After the showcase was an autograph session. As I didn’t go to their arrival into Singapore, I didn’t already have my album signed so I had to join the queue to get my album signed while Manfred, Daniel and Roxanne went off to get some food.

As we were constantly moved through the queue, I only managed to get a photo of Nathan and Jay. Didn’t get any of the rest but I’m sure if you google, you’ll find it on someone else’s blog. 🙂

Anyway, here are those shots:

Enjoy!
